How safe is our food?
The food grown in Australia is safe and is regulated by Safe Food Australia. Farmers and food growers and producers have to adhere to a strict set of rules before their food is allowed to be sold in Australia. Farms also get checked to make sure that they are sticking to the guidelines. The guidelines set out many things from producing food to handling food to the amount of insecticides that you are allowed to use on your foods. They talk about food handling and pest management as well.

Do you really know where your food comes from?
When you buy food in the supermarket you have to read the package really well. Sometimes there is a little map of Australia on the front, but when you read the small print you find that the ingredients to make the food are mainly from overseas and only 1 or 2 ingredients are from Australia. So whenever you buy foods, you need to make sure that it is grown and produced in Australia so that you are supporting Australian farmers.

How people tampering with food can effect consumer confidence?
At the moment, in the news, there is a lot of talk about needles being found in strawberries. Will this stop people from buying strawberries? Probably yes. But this is no good for all of the Australian strawberry farmers. The media and the newspaper always make things sound really bad and that makes people stop buying certain products. If you just cut your strawberries up before you eat them then you would be able to see or feel if their is a needle in them and if there isn't then you can safely eat that strawberry. This is an easy way to still eat strawberries, but if you just listen to the news then you would probably stop buying strawberries altogether. This is not good for our farmers.
